Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has vowed to sign at least one more striker in the summer after losing Demba Ba to Chelsea last month according to Sky Sports.

Pardew had been keen to instantly replace Ba with Marseille forward Loic Remy, but Queens Park Rangers lured the French international to Loftus Road just before Newcastle could tie down the player.

Despite missing out on an out and out striker Pardew has been able to bring in a whole host of January additions and with survival the main aim, the summer can be fresh start for everyone at the club.

Papiss Cisse is the only proven out and out striker currently at St James’ Park and he isn’t having a great season goalscoring wise so it will be Pardew’s main aim for the summer to attract a top striker to the club.

The Europa League will not be a distraction next season as it had this time around and so with more funds to splash before the new season, Pardew expects Newcastle to come back stronger next season.

“When we lost out on (Loic) Remy, it was pretty evident we weren’t going to get a big striker,” Pardew told the Evening Chronicle

“They are pretty difficult to get over the line. You look around and nobody apart from Remy has really moved – maybe Danny Graham,  but I don’t think he’s in that level.

“I think that’s something we will look at in the summer.

“You always want another striker. I want Man United’s position – (Robin) Van Persie, (Wayne) Rooney, (Javier) Hernandez and (Danny) Welbeck. That would be nice, but we haven’t got that.”
