West Ham captain Kevin Nolan believes that both he and Andy Carroll will be booed by Newcastle fans as they return to St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Carroll has already returned to the North East before, with Liverpool, where he was subject to chants and jeers throughout the game and Nolan expects he will be in for a similar reception come Sunday afternoon.

“Andy might not get the best reception because I know he has been back there and got a bit of stick,” Nolan told the Daily Mail.

“I am hoping that Andy gets respect, as they know what effort he put in when playing for Newcastle and helping them to be where they are today.

“I won’t speak to him specifically about it before the game – he is a big character.

“We both had some fantastic times up there. Now 50,000 people are going to want to boo us.”

Sam Allardyce and Alan Pardew will both also manage against their former clubs, with a heated atmosphere expected at St James’ Park.
