Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal are all on red alert with Xavi set to enter crunch talks with Barcelona, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 34-year-old – who has won just about every prize on offer at club and international level – is due to sit down with new Nou Camp chief Luis Enrique soon, with his future with the Catalans a pressing concern.

It is understood that Xavi is keen to stay at Barca, but only if he is a first-team regular.

Enrique is set to rebuild the La Liga giants’ first-team on the back of a fall from grace under Tata Martino last term, and it is rumoured that he may dilute the Spanish midfielder’s influence.

Xavi and Andres Iniesta have been the bedrock of Barca’s recent success, however there is talk that the club may move away from the playing philosophy that garnered so much success in recent times.

This has alerted United, City and Arsenal, who are all keen to offer the experienced playmaker a fresh challenge.

The metronomic passer has two years to run on a £9.7m-per-year deal, but he may ask for a transfer.
