Premier League target hoping for Russian switch
Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony looks set to snub reported Premier League interest in favour a move to Russia.
But, despite stating that he would be on to a move to England, he is set to spurn the trios’ interest in favour of a switch to Russia, where the transfer window will remain open until February 27th.
There is believed to be a number of potential unnamed clubs in the country willing to pay big money for his signature, and Bony is tempted by a winter move:
“I hope to leave this winter. My wishes have not changed,” he told Voetbal International.
“Yes, the market in Russia is not open for very much longer, but what can I do?
“I can only work and wait. Work and wait and hope I get my chance.”
Bony has been in fine form for Vitesse this season, with his two strikes in a recent 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven making him the Eredivisie’s top scorer, with 18 goals in 19 appearances.
The Dutch side are believed to value him at around €15m, a fee which could easily be matched by Russian giants such as Anzhi Makhachkala, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Rubin Kazan.
