QPR fail with second bid for Fulham star
Super Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has targeted the Norwegian as a replacement for veteran defender Ryan Nelsen, who has taken the management position at MLS outfit Toronto.
With the 31-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the current season, ‘Arry was believed to be confident of luring him to Loftus Road.
But, the Cottagers appear keen to keep hold of the experienced centre-back, and have rebuffed a second approach.
Hangeland is thought to be seeking a new deal with Fulham, but is stalling in a bid to secure a similar wages to the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Mark Schwarzer.
QPR would likely be able to match his demands, but is believed that Hangeland would rather stay at Craven Cottage.
Despite the on-going negotiations, Fulham manager Martin Jol regards his skipper as a key player, and hinted that he is not for sale:
“He’s our strength and we would be silly to get rid of him or sell him now.”
QPR are also chasing former Blackburn defender Christopher Samba, who now plays for Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala.
Another defensive target was reportedly Porto’s Rolando, however the Portuguese international opted to sign for Napoli.
