QPR to offer Bent Aston Villa escape
QPR will make a summer move for out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, if they avoid relegation from the Premier League, according to reports from The Metro.
The former England international has been frozen out of the Villains’ first-team this term under new manager Paul Lambert, who has looked to imposed a youthful look to his squad.
As a result, the 28-year-old is believed to be looking to move on, alerting QPR, as well as the likes of Norwich and Swansea.
The Super Hoops will make their move later this year, so long as Harry Redknapp can steer them clear of the drop zone, which may be a tough task after defeat at Villa Park on Saturday.
Despite bringing in Loic Remy during January, the Londoners are a little light of firepower and are currently the league’s lowest scorers with a tally of 26.
Bent is widely regarding as one of the best natural finishers in the English top flight, but there are niggling concerns regarding his fitness.
But, QPR are thought to be willing to take the risk if they can stay in the division.
Bent has previously played for Charlton, Tottenham and Sunderland, registering an impressive goalscoring record with all three.
