QPR boss Harry Redknapp is considering a surprise move to lure Tim Cahill back to the Premier League this summer, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Australian netted 56 goals in 226 appearances for Everton before jetting off to the MLS to play for the New York Red Bulls in 2012.

His form in America has since been impressive which allowed him to travel to the World Cup, where he notched one of the goals of the tournament against Holland – a spectacular left-footed volley.

Now it appears that Redknapp is keen to lure him back across the Atlantic Ocean as he sets about building a team capable of avoiding relegation.

The 34-year-old forward has bags of know-how after spending his entire career in England with Millwall and Everton before exploring Major League Soccer, which ‘Arry believes may be useful.

Cahill is thought to be settled in New York, but the lure of another shot at top level European football may tempt him.

The veteran attacker is the Socceroos’ all-time leading scorer with 34 goals in 71 outings.
