Royals could offer Premier League lifeline to Arsenal ace
The Gunners are desperate to remove Arshavin’s sizeable wage package from the club and Arsene Wenger made it clear recently that he was no longer part of the first team.
Reading have found life back in the Premier League difficult with the club and are yet to pick up their first victory. A striker of Arshavin’s substantial talents could aid their attempt to preserve their top-flight status however he won’t come cheap.
Russian owner Anton Zingarevich is looking at making money available to let Brian McDermott strengthen his side and recruit a number of quality players in January.
Zingarevich is reported by Sky Sports as saying “Arshavin is interesting for Reading.”
The Russian international’s time in the North London has soured in recent years after a promising start and he could be tempted to a club that could promise him first team football.
However Zingarevich he also confirmed that the Russian was just one of many targets for the Royals in January.
“He is one of 10 players that are interested in,” he stated.
The former Zenit man has only been used sparingly by Arsene Wenger this season, playing just a total of 46 minutes of Premier League football so far. His desire to move away from the Emirates may be deepened after Russian manager Fabio Capello left him out of the recent national squad and a move to the Madjeski Stadium may suit all parties.
