Brede Hangeland is not short of admirers following his recent release from Fulham, according to his agent.

The 32-year-old centre-back saw his six-year spell at Craven Cottage brought to an abrupt end following the Londoners’ relegation to the Championship.

Hangeland had another 12 months on his deal, but the Cottagers opted to terminate his contract as they look to prepare for life in the second tier.

The Norwegian – once a target for the likes of Arsenal – has long been considered as one of the Premier League’s more dependable defenders, and has already been linked with moves to both West Ham and newly-promoted QPR.

His agent, Rune Hauge, did not name any specific teams tracking his client, but insisted that interest is high:

“There is interest from the Premier League,” He is quoted by Goal.

“But Brede’s on holiday. He was on the way to the airport when he got the message [that he had been released].

“It’s a little bit difficult now, he has to finish that holiday time and take it from there.”

Hauge also insisted that Hangeland is not closed off to the idea of leaving London, and indeed England, despite his lengthy stay at Fulham:

“No [it does not have to be London], he’s interested in any Premier League club. So far, that [moving to Europe] is not a priority.

“At the moment, yes [he is only interested in the Premier League]. We’ll discuss it when he’s back from the holiday.”
