Sneijder’s Premier League move unlikely
A possible Premier League switch for Wesley Sneijder now appears to be unlikely, with Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni revealing he is on the verge of joining Galatasaray.
Inter are believed to be looking to reduce his £200,000-per-week wages in a bid to balance the books.
However, Sneijder is unwilling to bow to their demands, which has seen him axed from first-team duty.
This has opened the door for Galatasaray who have reportedly had a bid accepted for the 28-year-old.
Although there were rumours that the player was stalling over a potential switch to Turkey, Stramaccioni has revealed that negotiations are close to be finalised:
“I believe that we are now in the home stretch,” he is quoted by talkSPORT.
“From my point of view as the Inter coach it is better for everyone if he moves on. Our transfer dealings depend on his sale.”
The Istanbul club are said to be willing to match his salary demands, an action not many potential suitors were eager to do.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United have all been linked with the player, who was keen to move to England.
The Red Devils were reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Sneijder over the summer, but a move never came to fruition.
