Southampton could be set to lose another key first-team player in the coming weeks, with reports from Goal suggesting that Morgan Schneiderlin is ready to leave the club.

The Saints finished eighth last term under Mauricio Pochettino, but have since lost their manager, their captain Adam Lallana, their top scorer from the last four seasons Rickie Lambert and promising teenager Luke Shaw.

To make matters worse star centre-back Dejan Lovren has also requested a transfer, and now it seems that Schneiderlin has done the same.

The 24-year-old midfielder was one of the club’s top performers last season, with his classy performances from a deep-lying role enough to have booked him a trip to the World Cup to represent France.

Arsenal and Napoli are thought to be interested in the silky ace, and it is understood that the player himself is ready to move on.

Rumours suggest that Schneiderlin has agreed terms on a deal to join the Italians, while the Gunners’ willingness to push ahead with a swoop demands on other dealings.

Southampton chief Ronald Koeman is set to be handed much of the £60m raised through players sales to boost his squad.
