Southampton are ready to offer Arsenal’s Lukasz Fabianski a Premier League lifeline at the end of the season, according to reports from the Sunday People.

The experienced Polish goalkeeper – who starred in the Gunners’ FA Cup semi-final triumph on Saturday – is set to be released by the London club in a few months’ time when his contract expires.

Fabianski has long been seen as Wojciech Szczesny’s backup man at the Emirates Stadium, but he is rumoured to be willing to call time on his spell in north London in search of regular action.

Celtic and clubs from Germany are believed to be interested, but Southampton are planning to offer him the opportunity to stay in English football.

The South Coast outfit see the 28-year-old as a good man to challenge Artur Boruc for the number one spot, with their current first choice having seen his form dip after a wonderful start to the season.

Fabianski looks set to represent Arsenal in the FA Cup final, with Arsene Wenger likely to stick with glovesman who has been dubbed their ‘cup ‘keeper’ after his penalty shootout heroics against Wigan at Wembley – in which he saved two of the Latics’ efforts from the spot.
