Southampton are chasing Bologna defender Frederik Sorensen, according to the player’s agent.

The Saints are thought to be keen to make additions to their squad during January in a bid to improve their Premier League fortunes.

Having turned in a number of impressive Serie A performances this term, the 20-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Italian football and is being tracked by a number of top European sides.

His agent Michal Bolvig confirmed that Southampton are one of the clubs chasing his signature:

“It is correct that Southampton are among the clubs who have contacted Bologna regarding an interest in Frederik,” he is quoted by Sky Sports via Sporten.dk.

“He has now produced regularly on a high level in a good league and it is natural that there is interest for a young player like him.”

He went on to state that a switch to England would tempt his client, but insisted that he is happy to stay with Bologna for the time being:

“The Premier League is an exciting option for Frederik. But he is not in a hurry to interrupt the progress he is going through at Bologna right now.”

Fredriksen only joined the Rossoblu last January after becoming frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities at Juventus.

He has made 11 league appearances this term, weighing in with one goal.

Although he is yet to win an international cap with Denmark, he is tipped to break into the senior side following a successful period in the U-21 set-up.
