Stoke could be set to fund a winter move for Hannover forward Mame Biram Diouf by letting Peter Crouch leave the Britannia Stadium, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Potters have been linked with the Bundesliga star for some time, and were believed to have been chasing him over the summer.

However, the former Manchester United man proved to be out of their grasp, with his employers keen to keep him for this season.

But a January swoop for the Senegalese star is on the cards, with the player’s contract set to expires in a little over six months’ time.

As a result, Mark Hughes could get his man for as little as £2m, with Hannover likely to lower their valuation rather than lose the forward for free.

Although the cash for additions is in place, Stoke could offset the spend by letting Crouch move on.

The ex-Liverpool man’s earnings are thought to be seen as a problem, with the club keen to axe his £50,000-per-week salary from their expenditure.

QPR currently lead the race for the lanky striker, with Harry Redknapp known to be a huge fan of his abilities.
