Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has revealed that he is happy for January signing Jack Butland to go out on loan for the whole of next season.

Butland signed for the Potters late in last months transfer window and was immediately sent back to former club Birmingham on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old is tipped to be one of the best English ‘keepers for years to come and made his England debut against Italy last year with many considering him to be Roy Hodgson’s number two behind Joe Hart.

Stoke’s current number one Asmir Begovic has been in fine form this season leading to rumours that Manchester United and Chelsea may be interested in signing him in the summer.

However Pulis is hoping to keep Begovic at the Britannia Stadium which will give Butland the chance to go out on loan for a further season to build up his experience.

“If it comes to next season and we’ve still got three goalkeepers and feel Jack isn’t ready, he’ll be loaned out again,” Pulis told the Daily Mirror.

“There was no thought in my mind of bringing Butland in just in case Asmir went. We felt it was a fantastic opportunity.

“The price was unbelievable.”
