Stoke are pondering a double move to secure Sunderland‘s Lee Cattermole and Steven Fletcher before the transfer deadline passes, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Potters chief is looking to bolster his squad before the end of the week, and is desperate to add proven Premier League quality to his ranks.

Cattermole and Fletcher are seen as ideal signings, with the pair having impressed in the top tier for some time.

The midfield general is believed to be Hughes’ major target, with ‘Sparky’ keen to add his combative edge to his current engine room.

Cattermole has been reinstated into the Black Cats’ first-team since Gus Poyet took over from Paolo Di Canio, but the Uruguayan may be willing to sacrifice him to fund moves for either Liam Bridcutt of Brighton or Valencia’s Ever Banega.

Fletcher is also on Stoke’s radar.

Hughes is keen to secure the services of a top goalscorer, is a big fan of the former Burnley and Wolves hit-man.

Sunderland have recalled Connor Wickham from a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday, which could potentially open the door for Fletcher to leave if an acceptable offer is received.
