Sunderland star unsure of long-term future
Sunderland defender Titus Bramble has admitted that he is unsure as to whether he has a future at the Stadium of Light.
The 31-year-old will be out of contract this summer, with his current deal due to expire in June.
As of yet, there has been no official approach from the Black Cats to extend his stay, with his 13 Premier League appearances this season hinting that his spell at the club could be coming to an end.
But, Bramble says that he is not thinking about the future and is purely focused on performing on the field of play and helping Sunderland move clear of the relegation battle:
“In football you never know what is going to happen,” He told the Northern Echo.
“Sunderland is my team and that is who I am playing for. I will give 100 per cent for Sunderland.
“What happens in the summer happens. I am happy and settled here. I am out of contract. It’s up to the manager and the directors what they want to do. I will happily sign a new contract here, but it’s out of my hands.”
Bramble’s future has been in some doubt a while now, with rumours circulating in January that he was close to joining QPR.
But, the former Newcastle and Wigan man said he didn’t give a move much consideration, insisting that he was, and still is, committed to Sunderland:
“I know I was linked with QPR, but I am not focused on that.” He said.
“I didn’t know if my time here was coming to an end. I didn’t think about it. I just came in every day, trained hard and what happens off the pitch will happen. I only care about what happens on the pitch.”
