Jozy Altidore has struggled for form this season but did not expect such a backlash from a senior journalist at The Sunderland Echo. That is exactly what the USA international got this afternoon.

Graeme Anderson rather bravely included Altidore’s official twitter handle when mocking his performances in comparison to Conor Wickham.

Altidore responded with grace saying he was happy for his teammate. Vergini was not so forgiving. Labelling the reporter’s behaviour disgraceful. See the exchanges below.

    Look up ‘talisman’ in the dictionary. Entirely inappropriate for the relationship Altidore enjoys with SAFC.
