Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has claimed that Saturday’s game against Chelsea is of less importance than next week’s clash with Southampton, as reported by The Sun.

Laudrup feels that today’s game at the Liberty Stadium against the European champions may be less of a significant 90 minutes as the Swans’ trip to St Mary’s next weekend against relegation struggles Southampton.

The new Swansea boss claims that his players will need no motivation to perform against Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea due to the occasion, but next weeks’ game may be a different story.

“I’m not worried about Saturday because I know we’ll perform well,” Laudrup told The Sun.

“The result against Southampton is much more important.”

Two defeats in a row for Swansea and two victories for Nigel Adkins’ Southampton will see the two sides separated by just a single point, so beating the teams around you is clearly the priority of the impressive Dane.
