Slowly but steadily, current Ligue 1 champions Montpellier are being stripped of their assets. Midfielder Younes Belhanda is the latest name to be linked with a move out the door, following in the steps of Olivier Girioud, who he formed a title-winning partnership with last season, and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who recently signed for Newcastle.
Belhanda plays in the position just behind the striker and has drawn interest from both England and around Europe. Remy Cabella’s performances may ease the departure of Belhanda, but it’s no consolation for how quickly Montpellier has been crippled since winning the league title.
Belhanda would be a smart buy for most in English football. He’s most recently been linked with Tottenham, but Arsenal have also shown an interest.
