Liverpool and Chelsea target Bafetimbi Gomis has been in a rich vein of form for Lyon this season, and his 15 goals in all competitions so far this season has certainly caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs.
Although while he may have only 18 months to run on his contract, Lyon aren’t in any rush to sell him this month, with the summer window looking like a more surefire indicator of his long-term future. Consequently, anyone looking to take him away from the Stade der Gerland is going to have to shell out a sizeable fee, with his recent form only inflating that price.
Club president Jean-Michel Aulas is a renowned negotiator and interested parties won’t be getting the Frenchman on the cheap should they decide to plump for him. At 27, there is perhaps still room for improvement but despite remaining a consistent goalscorer, Gomis has never been one of the prolific variety. Better value exists elsewhere.
