For those looking to add something in the way of firepower during the second half of the Premier League season, teams could do a lot worse than look the way of Burnley’s Charlie Austin and his 23 goals and counting this term.
While the club have publically refused to contemplate the idea of selling their prized asset, should a Premier League club come calling with the right amount, it’s difficult to see how the Championship side could turn down their overtures.
At 23, there’s still plenty of room for improvement and while he’s likely to command a fair portion of cash, it’s not going to be anywhere near the amount you’d need to buy proven Premier League talent.
Comfortable in either a front two or playing up front on his own, Austin has a lot more to his game than meets the eye and is surely destined for a run in the top flight sooner rather than later.
