The 12 ‘transfer bargains’ potentially up for grabs in January
The January transfer window may still be in its infancy but that hasn’t prevented a number of clubs tying up several intriguing deals. Brendan Rodgers acquired an increasingly versatile and potentially prolific forward in the form of Daniel Sturridge while Roman Abramovich forced his way to the front of the queue to hand Newcastle a £7.5m cheque for Demba Ba.
Elsewhere, West Ham presented Joe Cole with a career-resurrecting lifeline before completing the loan signing of Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh. A move that must have made the other Cole at Upton Park both laugh and cry. Perhaps the most significant transfer is one that won’t come into effect until the summer, when gifted German Lewis Holtby joins Tottenham, having recently put pen to paper on a pre-contract deal.
With this in mind I have decided to compile 12 other players with rapidly expiring contracts that could prove bargains this January
