Like many young English stars with bags of potential, Bridges’ career has been blighted by injury and earned him a reputation more for being a journeyman that someone who fulfilled any sort of promise. Early success with Sunderland prompted big spending Leeds to sign the striker but injury curtailed his time at Elland Road despite scoring 21 goals in 82 appearances. Since then Bridges’ career has seen a stream of clubs willing to risk his fitness various loans and permanent spells with Bolton Wanderers, Bristol City, Carlisle United, Hull City, Sydney FC, MK Dons plus both Newcastle United and Newcastle Jets have failed to revive his faltering career.
