The 15 Premier League ‘Panic Buys’ of all time
If there is one thing about the January transfer window that is guaranteed is that there are certain clubs who continually panic buy in the hope that signing will help save their season. So much money has been squandered, adding credence to the feeling that it is a bad time to do business. The likes of Chelsea and Liverpool had their hands seriously burnt two years ago, with £85m wasted on two misfiring strikers, although I doubt it will deter other clubs splashing out this January.
This list celebrates those last minute panic buys, which subsequently didn’t pay off.
