In my mind the transfer market is a chaotic wonderland, bursting with excitement, seductive charm and eventually, a handshake. It’s a place where dream moves are realised or rescue missions can be successfully completed as clubs swoop, steal and tempt their way towards landing their prize targets.

However, as with any financially rewarding environment there is always a risk of potential wrongdoing. The lust for personal gain has muddied the once relatively clear-cut waters of the Premier League and it’s become increasingly clear that corruption exists at the highest level.

With this in mind I have decided to collate 15 shady transfers in the modern era that raised more than a few eyebrows.
