Liverpool’s comeback against West Ham at the weekend was made all the more remarkable by the fact the Reds were without pinpoint talisman Luis Suarez.
Rodgers’ was forced to deploy Jonjo Shelvey in the ‘false 9 role’, a move that equally baffled and infuriated both Graeme Souness and Jamie Redknapp. Instead of analysing how and indeed why the 20-year-old might make an impact, the pair instead decided to lament Liverpool’s dealings in the transfer market.
Despite their ignorance, there is no denying that Rodgers’ will be looking to add to attacking options in the New Year. Daniel Sturridge, Theo Walcott and Klaas-Jan Huntelaarr have all been linked with a potential move to Merseyside but it remains to be seen whether Rodgers’ will have significant funds to work with.
