Michael Dawson is like vanilla ice cream, there’s nothing wrong with him but there are usually better options available. At least that appears to be the opinion of Andre Villas-Boas, who has let the centre-back yo-yo up and down his pecking order with alarming irregularity.
The 29-year-old was reportedly on the brink of a move to QPR in the summer and speculation is likely to increase now former boss Harry Redknapp is at the helm. Redknapp will no doubt be keen to improve upon his current defensive duo of Ryan Nelsen and Clint Hill but there are several top-flight backlines that could benefit from Dawson’s competitive nature and leadership qualities.
