Tottenham and Newcastle have cooled their interest in Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, after learning they will have to pay £1million in agents fees if they sign him, according to the Metro.

The 28-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park in the summer, however the two clubs failed to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

Gomis is out of contract in the summer, and has also been attracting interest from Lyon’s Ligue 1 rivals Marseille.

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the forward nicknamed ‘Baby Drogba’ in his homeland, but he is no longer considered a priority signing.

Tim Sherwood is understood to have a list of striking transfer targets that includes West Brom forward Shane Long, and Juventus duo Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella.

Gomis is represented by Mondial Promotion, a firm which works for Marseille’s Andre Ayew and former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba, who is now plying his trade for Turkish giants Galatasary.

Both clubs are reluctant to pay up to £1million in agents fees, especially considering they have other targets, with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew understood to have reignited his interested in Holland forward Luuk de Jong.
