I’m not saying Palacios was/is a bad player, but a £12m outlay on a player was has one good season is not good business. It’s the same as Berbatov’s £30m transfer to United, he won the golden boot in 2011 but that transfer will still go down as a failure.

I’m struggling to understand why you’re so worked up about my ‘throw away’ comment. Spending £12m on a player who had one good season and is then sold for a fraction of that price has to be considered bad business, regardless of his status among supporters.

If only you had continued reading you would have stumbled upon my praise for Andre Villas-Boas. I too believe AVB is the better man for the Spurs job but that’s not to say Redknapp isn’t a likeable and indeed good manager, just look at how many QPR fans were desperate to have him installed as manager.

Also your point about the pair’s respective honours list is rather redundant. Roberto Di Matteo has won the Champions League, but does that make him a better manager than say Arsene Wenger, David Moyes etc. Of course not.

Sorry but your throw away comment of Palacios being a bad signing shows you know nothing of what he did and was for Tottenham.
Without Wilson Palacios Tottenham would never of made the Champions League (you probably should check the stats of which outfield players were constantly used for the 09/10 season).

Palacios was thrown away instead of the club keeping faith and sticking by him after the death of his brother.

Reading this piece, when you say £35 million was spent on “look away now” Bently, Pav and Wilson Palacios, I’ll agree with the first two, but Palacios was just what we needed at the time and he gave us some sadly lacking steel in the midfield. His form went downhill after the death of his brother which he never realy seemed to get over. While I was glad to see the back of ‘Arry, due to his disloyalty in the face of the England job, SOME useful players were brought in to the club. The purchases under AVB show that there IS an eye for a player, and his willingness to rotate players bodes well for the future.

Just gone three or four lines and I’m thinking who wrote this S**t. Rednapp is a scumbag not loveable rogue. AVB won the treble in Portugal. Including the Europa cup and going an entire season unbeaten. Rednapp has won one FA cup in 30 odd years of management. Rednapp wanted joe cole to accompany nelsen and saha into his dads army. AVB has signed Holtby and Fryers I know who’s I’d rather have in charged.
