Andre Villas-Boas relishing Inter Milan test
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking forward to his side’s Europa League clash with Inter Milan, and feels that the game has come at perfect time.
Spurs have been in terrific form lately, capping some impressive displays with a vital win over North London rivals Arsenal last weekend.
But, they face a tough last-16 tie with Italian giants Inter Milan, a game some have suggested will be a test of Tottenham’s Champions League potential.
Villas-Boas, whose side have tasted defeat just once in their last 16 games, is confident ahead of the game, insisting that is has come at a great stage of the season for his team:
“The match comes at a good time for us. It’s a big game, and an important week for the club. We’ve had some big games recently and we want to continue doing well.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.
“We will treat it seriously as we have done before. We probably face the biggest team involved in the last 16.”
However, Inter are no longer the force they were under Jose Mourinho, who guided them to Champions League success in 2010.
A number of top stars, including Wesley Sneijder, Thiago Motta and Maicon have all left the San Siro since then, but AVB insists that they will still be tough opposition:
“Inter are rebuilding their squad, they have invested in young players and are a club in change, but they’re involved in three competitions. The Europa League means a lot to them as it does to us.
“Inter are very experienced in Europe. We need to be aware of their strengths and they will need to be aware of ours.”
