Jermain Defoe waved farewell to White Hart Lane on Sunday as he edges closer to moving to the MLS with Toronto FC.

His cameo appearance at the end of Tottenham‘s 1-0 win over Everton spelled the end of his Spurs career, leaving behind his best memories in English football in the process.

The England striker netted 143 goals in 291 appearances in all competitions over two spells for Spurs and became a Tottenham legend for his regular goal scoring and match winning performances in both the Premier League and European competitions.

But were Spurs right to let him leave in the middle of an important season, particularly after so many years of scoring important goals in important games?

If you haven’t decided whether it was a good idea or not, take a look at this compilation of his goals to see just how prolific he was. Arguably one of the best strikers to grace the Premier League?
