Tottenham Hotspur legend David Ginola believes Spurs can finish in the top four despite not signing a striker in January.

Andre Villas-Boas was keen to add a new forward to his squad in the transfer window but missed out on Brazilian Leandro Damiao at the last minute.

Jermain Defoe has been the sole striker at the club in recent weeks with Emmanuel Adebayor at the African Cup of Nations but Harry Kane has now been recalled from his loan spell at Norwich to add competition for places.

Ginola has been mightily impressed with Villas-Boas along with the style of football that his former club are playing this season and Gareth Bale in particular has stood out for the Frenchman.

Despite the lack of strikers at the club, Ginola is adamant that Spurs can and will still finish in the top four to qualify for next seasons Champions League after cruelly missing out last year.

“Tottenham can do it [finish fourth], that’s for sure,” Ginola told talkSPORT.

“It’s a long season and there are a lot of games. They’ve shown in the past they can win important games, getting fourth place is well within their reach.

“As long as Gareth Bale is doing the same thing that he is doing in the last few weeks, they will be fine.

“I’m not really worried about Tottenham not signing a striker. The manager will find a way to play the best he can without fantastic strikers.

“They have the squad to do well. I have no doubts at all that the football that they are playing at the moment is good enough.

“They are improving and the way they pass the ball is excellent. I’m not worried at all, Barcelona play without strikers and they keep winning games.”
