Real Madrid’s record transfer signing Gareth Bale is suffering from a slipped disc in his back, according to reports in Spanish paper Marca.

Bale has appeared just twice since his £80million switch from White Hart Lane in the summer and was ruled out of Wales’ World Cup qualifiers this week too.

Madrid claim that the injury should not keep the pacey winger out for too much longer but future surgery may be required if the disc slips further out of place and Bale begins to feel real discomfort.

Slipped discs have kept players out for in excess of six months in the past so Madrid will want to keep an eye on it to prevent long term injury.

The former Tottenham star could return to the Madrid side next weekend and insists he is not feeling any pain when playing.

Bale may not walk straight back in to the Real side however with Angel Di Maria, Luka Modric and Isco putting in some impressive performances in recent games.
