PSG to join the race to sign Tottenham star
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to join the list of clubs interested in the Premier League‘s ‘most wanted’ star, Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.
Real Madrid are first in line to sign the 23-year-old, but Tottenham former director of football Damien Comolli predicts a substantial bid from the French giants, The Sun reports.
“If PSG know the player is on the market — and there is a possibility — it wouldn’t surprise me if they did everything in their power to get him,” Comolli said.
“When you leave Tottenham and you are a player like Bale, there are only three or four clubs you can go to.”
Bale, however, hinted in recent statements that PSG would not be his ideal destination, in what can be read as a preference to other clubs the flying Welshman has been linked to.
“Yes, PSG is a great team”, he said. “They brought great players last summer, even in January. This is a club to follow in the future, a bit like Manchester City.
“[But] they are still not at the level of great clubs. Not like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Barcelona.”
Real are still the most interested party in the winger, and recent reports suggest that Los Blancos could be preparing a £60million bid to lure the star away from White Hart Lane.
