French giants Paris Saint-Germain are planning a £16.5 summer swoop for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, according to reports from The Express.

The Ligue 1 champions made a successful raid for a Premier League star last month in the shape of Yohan Cabaye – who joined them in a £19m switch from Newcastle – and now they are keen to repeat the trick for Spurs’ number one.

Although they have a perfectly capable stopper in Salvatore Sirigu, PSG chiefs are convinced that in order to make the next move in their quest to be one of European football’s true superpowers they need a world-class glovesman.

Lloris has emerged as a target, with the Parisians attracted to the prospect of luring one of France’s finest talents back to his homeland.

The North London goalkeeper has already confessed that he may be forced to evaluate his time at Tottenham if they miss out on Champions League qualification this season, and with PSG virtually guaranteed a spot in the competition they are confident of using this to their advantage.

Spurs are unlikely to consider a sale unless their man openly pushes for the move, and chairman Daniel Levy is known for being a shrewd operator when it comes to extracting the highest fee possible from rival clubs – as he did with Gareth Bale when he joined Real Madrid for £86m last year.
