Spurs fight for French U21 international
Tottenham Hotspur hope to bring French U21 international Massadio Haidara to the Premier League after Aston Villa were priced out of the running.
Haidara, 20, has as little as 18 months left to run on his contract and Nancy’s £6.5million valuation has priced the youngster out of a move to Villa Park.
Previous Villa manager Alex McLeish placed a bid of £2million for the U21 international, but news of his inflated price tag has dashed Paul Lambert’s hopes of acquiring the young left-back.
The Villans chief executive Paul Faulkner has keenily kept tabs on Haidara in person, seeking to find a replacement for Stephen Warnock who wants to stay on at Bolton after his loan deal ends.
The two-time England international left-back has seen his opportunities at Villa Park cut drastically and told the the Daily Mail that he’d “definitely like to stay.”

Spurs need Vertonghen back in the centre of defence so that the cracks created by Gallas (aging and slow) can be remedied. BAE and Haidara could be a good combination for Tottenham, with Walker and Naughton on the right perhaps.
