Spurs interested in signing Watford loan star
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Vicarage Road from Italian giants Udinese and has scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for Gianfranco Zola’s men to propel them into Championship play-off contention.
It’s believe the Hornets have already begun discussing a permanent move for the Czech Republic international but news of interest from the Premier League could scupper their hopes of keeping him at the club long-term.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is eager to add another forward to his squad before the transfer window closes next week with Jermaine Defoe the only senior striking option currently at his disposal.
A number of strikers have been linked with a move to White Hart Lane this month and Vydra’s prolific campaign in front of goal has certainly grabbed the interest of Villas-Boas.
The player’s agent Ondrej Chovanec claims that five Premier League clubs are chasing his client’s signature but insists they both want to see out the season with Watford before returning to Italy to make a decision on his future.
“At the moment, five Premier League clubs are interested in Matej,” Chovanec revealed.
“[But] we want Matej to stay with Watford at least until the summer. We are not planning any rush move for him.”
