Last night, any football fan watching Tottenham take on West Ham in the Premier League clash truly witnessed something special. Gareth Bale’s performance, in which he produced two unstoppable goals, has heightened the debate further as to whether the Welsh wonder is indeed a world-class footballer.

But Spurs fans are no doubt slightly concerned. Amid all this discussion over how to categorise their winger, it seems almost a given that he will be departing White Hart Lane in the summer for one of Europe’s top clubs.

Fear not, I say. Even if Bale does leave, there will be a serious transfer kitty left behind, with newspapers reporting that a fee between £40million and £70million would be required to lure him away from North London, in which case, Andre Villas-Boas can easily find an adequate replacement.

And just in case the Portuguese gaffer needs a helping hand deciding, we’ve created a shortlist of perfect candidates.

So click on the man himself to find out who could be replacing him at White Hart Lane next season
