Jermain Defoe’s decade-spanning contribution to the Tottenham cause won’t be forgotten at White Hart Lane. The England international has netted 91 Premier League goals during two spells with the Lilywhites, and was recently anointed the North London outfit’s all-time leading goalscorer in Europe.

But now at 31 years of age, having made just three Premier League starts since the summer and with the Spurs roster seeing continuous overhaul  over the last 18 months, Defoe is now bound for European footballer retirement home the MLS, linking up with former Tottenham defender and now FC Toronto manager Ryan Nelson.

It leaves the North Londoners one man short in the goalscoring department, with just a three-man strike force remaining consisting of Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane.

If Tim Sherwood plans on using his customary 4-4-2 until the end of the season, he’ll need to bring in a replacement for the departing Premier League veteran, so here’s a list of the SIX candidates the Tottenham gaffer should consider.
