It’s been quite a journey for El Hamdaoui since leaving White Hart Lane without making a single competitive appearance in 2006.
Whereas he left judged seemingly not cut out for the rigours of football at the very highest level, he’s now enjoying a extremely fruitful spell at one of the biggest clubs in Italy. And he could just be about to make a surprise return to these shores.
His spell at Fiorentina – one that’s been preceded by stints at Willem II, AZ and Ajax along the way – has seen him linked with a move to Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool at the end of the season. Not bad for a man cast off without even being given a chance seven years ago.
