The 26-year-old has been one of Spurs’ key mean over the course of the past few seasons, but with a Andre Villas-Boas having launched a radical overhaul of his side of the summer his chances of playing time appear to have reduced significantly.

The likes of Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela have all arrived for big fees, while Andros Townsend has been impressive, and are all comfortable operating in similar areas to the England international.

Inter have been alerted by the situation ahead of the transfer window.

The Serie A giants are long-term admirers of the pacey wide-man and have been linked with his signature in the past.

They’re hopeful that a loan move may appeal to Lennon, who is believed to be keen to play regularly in the build up to the 2014 World Cup.

Tottenham may sanction the switch with AVB thought to be keen to delve into the transfer market once again in a bid to break into the Premier League’s top four and qualify for the Champions League.

Inter have also been linked with a shock swoop for Blackpool’s Tom Ince.
