Soldado

Andre Villas-Boas has launched an astonishing attack on Tottenham’s home fans, claiming they offered no support and were too negative during yesterday’s 1-0 win over Hull City, reports talkSPORT.

Roberto Soldado’s controversial late penalty gave Tottenham a less than convincing 1-0 win that kept them in touch with the league leaders, but Villas-Boas was clearly unhappy after the final whistle, claiming his team lacked support from the home fans.

“At half-time we were getting no support. There was lots of anxiety in the stadium from the fixtures night before,” Villas-Boas said.

“We didn’t get any help today and sometimes you need that extra energy extra motivation to win games like this. Obviously our away support has been excellent.

“I think we have beaten the away record of last season because we are able to play without anxiety and full of confidence in away games.

“We feel comfortable, there is no anxious moments, there is no negativity and the away support has been fantastic. There seems to be lots of tension that doesn’t help the players to go through.”

Expectations at White Hart Lane appear to have heightened since the summer, when Villas-Boas spent over £100million on new talent following the world record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

Whilst winning most of their fixtures so far this season, performances have been patchy. Yesterday was the third game of the season won courtesy of a Soldado penalty.
