Tottenham are in advanced negotiations with current Newcastle striker Loic Remy, according to reports from Le10Sport.

The France international is presently on loan at St James’ Park from QPR, but he is expected to be plying his trade with a new club next season even if his parent side gain promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Remy himself has stated his desire to play for a top side, and now it appears that Spurs are keen to offer him a fresh opportunity.

Reports indicate that Tottenham have been discussing a move with the player and are hopeful that he will put pen to paper.

But much depends on Remy’s final decision, with Champions League football – which he will not be able to play at White Hart Lane next term – thought to be a priority.

North London rivals Arsenal are also in the hunt, and could offer him the standard of competition he craves.

Remy has been in excellent form for Newcastle during 2013/14, netting an impressive 14 goals for the midtable club despite having missed a large chunk of the past few months through injury.
