Tottenham are the latest side to have joined the race for Newcastle forward Loic Remy, according to reports from The Metro.

The French international is currently on loan at St James’ Park from QPR, and has been in impressive form for the Magpies.

His goal scoring antics – 13 in 23 Premier League games – have led to talk that the North East outfit are ready to make his stay a permanent one at the end of the season, while rumours also indicate that Arsenal are monitoring the situation.

Now it is understood that Spurs are also in the hunt, with the North Londoners desperate to add to their attacking ranks once the transfer window re-opens.

Tim Sherwood – although his position at White Hart Lane is uncertain – is said to be lining up targets as he looks to get his side back into the Champions League.

With Roberto Soldado having struggled this term and Emmanuel Adebayor having a track record as being a little unreliable, a new striker is seen as a must.

Remy has already confessed that he feels himself to be ready for a big move, and Tottenham’s ambitions to battle at the top end of English football could enough to sway him.

There also remains an outside chance that he may stay at QPR if Harry Redknapp is able to guide the Super Hoops to promotion.
