Tottenham are keeping tabs on Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio, according to Metro.

Reports in Spain are suggesting new White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino has his sights on the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Jan Vertonghen, should Barcelona follow up their interest in the Belgium international.

Pochettino has sent scouts to watch the Argentine and has been impressed with his performances for the La Liga side.

A deal would solely depend on whether Jan Vertonghen completes a move to Barcelona, although the Belgian has denied any truth in the rumour.

He said: “Interest from a great club like FC Barcelona pleases me of course – this is confirmation that you’re doing well.

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, they say, but for the moment there is certainly no fire.’

However, Vertonghen has stopped short on putting an end to the rumours behind his departure by not yet signing a new deal at the north London outfit.

Barcelona can follow up their interest all they like, he’s going no-where. Stop talking crap and trying to stir up another media bullsh1t frenzy for yet another Spurs player. Do you not understand, Spurs are not a selling club. In fact all of our best players that we’ve sold including Berba, Keene, Modric, Bale etc. have all pushed for a move after throwing their toys out of the pram (perhaps not all of them have behaved badly). None of them were made to go by Levy. You’re obviously another wanna-be media berk who pretends to know about Spurs. Let me explain it to you, YOU KNOW F ALL ABOUT SPURS! So, go away and write about something you know about! A potential replacement for Vertonghen, PUH! What’s your name? Is it Day’s Late but still bull, by any chance?

Wow. Do you allow yourself to get so upset over a story like this regularly? Can’t be healthy?

I hate to break it to you but, all of the above is true. Even Vertonghen’s quote’s are true. Sorry to have ruined your day. I genuinely feel bad.

Oh, and I’m not a ‘wannabe media berk.’ I’m actually real media berk. So there.
