Tottenham Hotspur and Europa League rivals Inter Milan are set for a transfer battle to sign 23 year-old midfielder Ruben Botta, claim Talksport.

Reports from South America indicate both teams have sent scouts to monitor the progression of the young talent, who currently plays for Tigre in Argentinian Primera Division.

Formed in Boca Juniors youth categories, Botta joined Club Atletico Tigre back in 2009 – at the age of 19 – in a four year contract, and has been gaining importance in the squad to the point of becoming one of the players with biggest prospects in the Argentinian league.

The Spurs target is a quick and skilful left winger with a superb control of his left foot and great ability in set pieces.

With his attachment to Tigre expiring this summer, it seems unlikely to see him staying in South America, as European clubs have already made contact with his agent Fernando Hidalgo.

Reports in Italy claim Inter Milan could have a five-year deal wrapped up to incorporate the player to the Serie A giants at the end of the season, although nothing has been publicly confirmed.

The last-sixteen round of the Europa League could become crucial for Botta to decide his future, as both teams face each other and could show the player who have bigger potential in continental competitions.
