Tottenham fans attacked in Lyon by masked Nazi gangs
Lyon fans are believed not to be involved in the incident, with the first unconfirmed reports suggesting a far right organisation were to blame.
The ambush, which is the second on Tottenham fans in successive European trips, took place at The Smoking Dog Pub around 10pm last night and ended up with at least three English supporters taken to the hospital.
Eyewitness Christian Radnege told the newspaper: “There were lots of Spurs fans in the pub. Then around 20 masked men came towards the pub. The glass was smashed, missiles were thrown into the pub.”
The group, which arrived making Nazi salutes and began the attack from the outside of the establishment, struck again five minutes after apparently leaving.
The incident is similar to what occurred in Rome in November, where two Spurs fans were stabbed and another eight injured after a attack as Tottenham faced Lazio.
