Tottenham are ready to offer Nacer Chadli as a sweetener in a deal for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports from The Sun.

The France international looks set to be the sixth big name player to leave the Saints this summer, with speculation suggesting that he’s informed members of the club’s hierarchy that he’s keen to move on.

With the South Coast outfit having already raised around £70m through the sales of key men they are said to be demanding at least £25m for Schneiderlin, with cash not really an issue at St Mary’s Stadium.

With this figure seen as a little steep by Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentine is keen to explore the possibility of using Chadli as a makeweight.

The Belgian was a part of the Lilywhites’ £110m transfer splurge last summer and, like many of the others, has failed to impress in north London.

But he is thought to be a player that Southampton chief Ronald Koeman admires after his time in Holland – where the winger played for FC Twente – and ‘Poch’ is hopeful that this will be enough to lower the price needed for Scheniederlin.

The now Spurs chief coached the midfielder last term and is known to have a good working relationship with him.

Arsenal are also keen on the classy enforcer.
