Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela wants to leave White Hart Lane less than six months after joining the London club, according to his father.

The Argentine international became Spurs’ record signing when he completed a £30m switch from Roma in August, but has struggled to settle into his new surroundings.

Andre Villas-Boas used Lamela sparingly while in charge of the club, and new boss Tim Sherwood also looks to be unconvinced by the 21-year-old.

This has led to rumours of a switch back to Italy, with the likes of his former side, Lazio, and Inter Milan all said to be keen on a loan deal for the South American.

Lamela’s father, Jose, revealed that his son is not content at Tottenham, and despite their wishes to keep him, he wants to move back to Serie A:

“Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy,” he is quoted by The Metro.

“He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know.

“Tottenham does not want him to leave in January.”

The majority of Lamela’s game time has come in the Europa League, with only nine of his appearances having been in the English top flight.
